(NYSE: AN), America's largest automotive retailer, on and off the web, has
promoted Allan Stejskal to the new position of Chief Information Officer.
Mr. Stejskal had served previously as AutoNation's Senior Vice President of
e-Commerce. In his new, expanded role, Mr. Stejskal will continue to oversee the
Company's e-Commerce operations and report to Michael E. Maroone, AutoNation's
President and Chief Operating Officer, while simultaneously leading the
Company's Information Technology group. On IT issues, Mr. Stejskal will report
to Craig T. Monaghan, AutoNation's Chief Financial Officer and Senior Vice
President.

vehicle sales via the Internet last year. They also expanded our online
capabilities this year through a new, strategic relationship with the Web's most

Mr. Stejskal, who will also hold the title of Senior Vice President, joined
AutoNation in 2000 after leading automotive e-Commerce efforts at Automatic Data
Processing, Inc. (ADP). As Vice President, Dealer Services Division, Mr.
Stejskal led the creation of such web sites as myautogarage.com, a portal for
vehicle service customers that ADP established with IBM Corp.; and
DealerSuite.com, an automotive retail portal. Mr. Stejskal holds a bachelor's
degree in industrial and operations engineering from the University of Michigan
and a master's in business administration from Harvard University.
