FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla., Aug. 12 /PRNewswire/ -- Republic Services, Inc. (NYSE: RSG) announced today that it has acquired the Marpal Company of Lincroft, New Jersey; Olympic Disposal, Inc. of Rochester, New York, and Imperial Sanitation Services, Inc. of Dade County, Florida. The transactions add more than $20 million of annual revenue.

Marpal provides solid waste and recycling services to residential and commercial customers in Monmouth, Middlesex and Ocean counties, New Jersey. The transaction complements existing operations in New Jersey and gives Republic Services a larger base for additional acquisitions and tuck-ins in a growing market.

Olympic Disposal collects and disposes of residential, commercial, and industrial non-hazardous solid waste from throughout the growing Rochester, New York area. Olympic's facilities include a transfer station, allowing Republic to more fully integrate its existing operations in the Rochester area. An application to increase the permitted capacity of the transfer station is pending.

Imperial Sanitation is one of the largest solid waste operations in the rapidly growing Dade and Broward county areas of South Florida. Approximately 90 percent of the company's revenue is generated from servicing commercial accounts that have signed long-term contracts. In a separate development, Republic Services announced today that the Caldwell County (North Carolina) Commission has unanimously approved Republic's plan to build and operate a new landfill on 78 acres that the company will lease from the county for 20 years, with a 10-year renewal option. It is anticipated that the landfill will accept non-hazardous solid waste from 11 counties in western North Carolina beginning in the fourth quarter, including up to 800 tons per day of solid waste from outside Caldwell County, and up to 250 tons per day from within the county.

Republic Services, Inc. is one of the largest providers of non-hazardous solid waste collection and disposal services in the United States. The company's various operating units provide solid waste collection services for commercial, industrial, municipal and residential customers in 24 states, primarily in the Sunbelt and other high growth areas of the country.
